End of Peak

Peak Tax Season has ended, but it should be busy for another few weeks. It was different from last year, that is for sure. Last year everyone was booked days in advanced. This year, there was only one week of that. We're back to a few appointments and what we call 'walk-ins'. If the next few weeks act like the ones in the first 2 weeks of peak, it will be a steady busy. There are a lot of folks who are scared that they will owe big time and finding they maybe getting a small refund and not owe as much as they thought, or getting a bigger refund then they imagined. Some are working their butts off, with no kids in the house and finding they owe and that is a shock. So far, its been an interesting year with the different returns, from client to client. I work to have fun with each person or couple and do the best job I can for them, each client(s) is different from the last and I enjoy learning about each one. I'm very much a people person and it makes it worth while. Now, every once in while I get one that isn't happy and that changes the mood in the office pretty quick, but we do what we can keep the peace and keep going. The golden rule to refunds and receiving them is simple: you have to make more the $3,500.00 to get much of anything, even if you have kids. For those of us who are single, no kids, no spouses, working our butts off, the only trick that I've seen at all is your employer to pull as much taxes from your pay as you can stand and thats just to break even. Don't be afraid this year to file your taxes, it may not be as bad as first thought. And to those who do get caught off guard and find that it was a painful year, sorry! A few will forget real estate taxes, school stuff, mileage for work in personal car for boss, tossed receipts for those 3 pair of steel toed boots. Keep Everything, you never know what will be counted. The goal isn't to cheat the system, IRS jail is no fun. The goal is to do them right and putting into the system. The only way we're going to get out of the $ hole we're all in is if each of us do our part to make sure right money is put in and each of us can take care of ourselves and our families. If we simply stop spending, then no one has money, jobs, etc... So, no matter how bad it hurts, we have to spend money in order to get more. So, don't be the one slows the wheel, do what you can no matter what. Happy Tax Season Everyone.
