Life Skills & High School Seniors

The last few days has offered me a new look to a couple people I care about and the lack of life skills that they hold. I remember when I was their age and was free from my parents and discovered I didn't know my ass from the sun! Had no clue about budgeting money, buying groceries, pay bills on time, balancing my check book and the list goes on. I did not have a credit card until I was 25, but even then I didn't have the skills to handle it. I didn't have the skills because my parents didn't have the skills when they left home, they too had to learn it the hard way. So, even if you didn't have the skills when you left home and your adult kids are moving out for college, buy books. There are books out there that will help you and them survive the harsh world outside of the sheltered world of home. Go to your nearest brick & mortar Bookstore and buy (or order) life skills books for your high school junior & senior students. Books on paper allow for notes to be added in the margin and and highlighted to their hearts content. Be humble when you offer the books to them about your own lack of skills at their age and you didn't want them to start out they same way you did.
